Frequently Asked Questions:
Trekkies can pay ahead of time, by e-transfer to address jumprun1@yahoo.com or cash at the time. $15.00 if renting, $10.00 if you have your own snowshoes.
Wear warm boots, and warm socks. Having a pair of windbreaker pants over your regular pants is a good idea, as the snowshoes kick up snow behind you, and if pants go over your boots (or have gaiters) the snow won't slide into your boots and melt.
On top wear layers, best option is hoodies or jackets that zip down the front, so can unzip as you start to warm up. A scarf if its a windy day, and hat and scarf if below 5 or 6 degrees. Feel free to bring a camera or phone for pictures. On top, depending on how cold it is, a comfy t-shirt, then turtle neck or high necked sweater. Then a wool or fleece zip up, then a wind breaker or jacket to break the wind.
Don't forget the gloves or mittens.
Address is 3341 Burnside line, Severn (It might come up as Orillia in some GPS's) Long laneway, directly across the road from Warminster sideroad, look for the wrought iron gates at the end of the lane.
Please, when booking, let me know if you are new to snowshoeing (will try to book you in one group, so as to learn, and not feel rushed) intermediate, or advanced. Also, if you have your own shoe shoes, or if you plan to rent. The parameters to the 100 acre property is an open farmers field to the North, The Uhthoff trail (a raised rail trail) to the East, Silver creek to the South, and the North River to the West. If unsure how to tell directions, please ask, and I would be happy to explain. This is a fun adventure, meant to release some of the stress, learn a little about snowshoes, N,S,W,E, about nature and ourselves. Feel free to shout out, ask about what we are seeing. If getting cold, or tired, please, let me know, the idea is to have fun, not stress.
To boldly go, where no one has gone before.
Peace, Trekkies!!!
